Service Details
There will be a viewing this Thursday, May 17th, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 18th, 2018 at 1:15 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery. A service will be held at Sumner Family Church on Sunday, May 20th, 2018 at 12:00 pm.
Lina was born April 27, 1932 to Friedrich and Hedwig Olschewski of Langenwiese/Ostpreussen, Germany. She grew up during World War II and suffered many hardships. Her oldest sister (a news reporter) was killed in one of the many bombing raids, and her oldest brother was missing in action in Russia. The family had to flee their home from the advancing Russian front. After the War, she lived under the Communist Government for several years. Then she escaped to West Berlin and a couple years later to Bitburg, West Germany where one of her sisters lived
Lina worked at Bitburg Air Base where she met and married John Kerr on September 18th, 1958. They have been married for 59 years and 8 months, together they had a son Mike and a daughter, Nancy and five grandsons, Kyle, Ryan, Cody, Justin, and Michael.

On July 5th, 1961 Lina became an American Citizen. She was sworn in at the United States District Court of Tucson, Arizona.
While in the Military the family traveled to many Bases throughout the United States and other Countries.

After twenty years of active service her husband retired from the Air Force and in June 1974 the family settled I Puyallup, Washington. Lina and her daughter Nancy went to beauty school together and after graduating they both worked in Tacoma at Marty’s Beauty Salon. On May 12, 1976 Lina went to a Bill Graham Crusade at the Seattle King Dome. There she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. That day Lina was born again and her life has never been the same. She freely shared her faith in Jesus Christ with others. Today Lina is with the Lord.

She Loved reading her bible and looked forward to our vacations to Germany, Hawaii, Crater Lake, Canon Beach and Sea Side Oregon.
Lina was loving, kind and cared about others. She is survived by her husband John Kerr, children Mike Kerr, Nancy Bell and grandchildren.
