On April 3, 2024, Paul (Pablo) Nieves passed away peacefully at the age of 96, surrounded by family at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way. He was born in San German, Puerto Rico on July 26,1927 and grew up in New York City before enlisting in the US Army in 1948. During his military service, he won his first championship trophy in 1948 as a middleweight boxer while stationed in Germany.
