William O Overholt passed away peacefully on the 13th of August 2021.
He was born on April 20th, 1928 in Tacoma Wa.
He was the second son of Antonette and Jessie Charles, and brother of Albert and Charles whom preceded him in death.
When the boys were 5-8 years old the family moved to Puyallup from Tacoma as a recommendation from “dad”Jessie’s Dr to get away from the pollution. He sadly passed away after the move leaving Antoinette to raise three young boys by herself.
They started their new lives by purchasing a berry farm, shortly after their move the family then sold the property to the PSD. The farm now is the home of Allyn Junior High. Antoinette then bought a smaller berry farm on 14th St SW that Bill and Gene maintained as a weekend home until 2019.
William was a proud graduate of PHS followed by doing his duty as a paratrooper in the US Army. He then proceeded to pay his way through college graduating from the UW with a Doctorate Degree in Interior Design. Shortly after graduation Bill joined the staff as a professor.
Leaving the UW he began his prosperous career in Interior design decorating some of the most famous residential estates in WA State. He frequently travelled with his customers to Europe purchasing their unique antiques, collectibles and art.
While Bill was in his forties he met the love of his life Gene, they were one of the of the first same sex couples to be married in San Francisco. Bill and Gene were accompanied by Su Ling their beloved puppy and their good friends.
Bill resided in Seattle with his husband Gene enjoying retirement by traveling all over the world several times over.
Bill loved his house , his garden, Gene, his friends, family, Su Ling and Judge Judy.
Bill is survived by his husband Gene Potter and their son Terry Potter.
