Shirley Ann Soler

Shirley passed away October 13 at age 78. She was born in Faribault, MN to Robert and Gertrude Bartel. The family moved to Washington in 1946, and Shirley graduated from Orting High School in 1962. While being a devoted wife and mother, she worked for the Puyallup School District elementary school libraries, then Fabricland, Children’s Bookshop and the Hobby Hall at the Washington State Fair.

In her free time, Shirley enjoyed sewing and crafts. She was involved in Camp Fire, PTA and Tacoma Swiss Ladies Society. Family meant everything to Shirley, and she loved traveling with friends and family.

Shirley is survived by Jerry, her husband of 58 years; four daughters: Jackie (Mike) Zils, Christine Soler, Teresa (Dave) Pierce, and Julie (John) Dorsey; four grandsons: Bryan (Tori) Zils, Eric Zils, Jordan Zils, and Jackson Dorsey; great-grandson Jasper Bennett Zils; a brother, sister and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Parish, Puyallup, followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery and a reception at the Swiss Sportsmen’s Club in Bonney Lake.
