Roy was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on June 19th, 1932. He enlisted in the Air Force where he went to Texas, met and married Willie Fay Grumble on December 22, 1953. Married 66 years until she passed away. The Air Force took the family to many places, retiring in Tacoma, WA. He then worked for Manke Lumber Company until he retired to work on his hobbies at home. He loved to tinker in his garage, making bird houses, wind chimes and fixing anything that was broken. If he was bored, he would take something apart to see how it worked and then put it back together. He kept mom's sewing machines clean and often helped put quilts on the frame. He was always willing when an extra pair of hands were needed.
They traveled around the country in the motor home, making many trips to their hometowns. They also belonged to the Good Sam Daffodil Ramblers and camped with the chapter all over Washington State.
