Ronald Burns

Ronald Burns, age 81, passed away peacefully in his home in Tacoma, WA, on October 5th, 2020.

Born July 19, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, Ron was the son of Malachy and Mildred (Curran) Burns.  He spent his childhood in Chicago and graduated from St. Leo High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Upper Iowa University.  Ron married Patricia Mary Murphy on July 13, 1963, and they moved to Washington State in 1970 where they raised 7 sons.  In addition to a long career in heavy equipment sales, Ron was a member of the US Army Reserve.

Ron was an avid golfer and was a licensed amateur radio operator.  He was also a lifetime member of the Elks.

Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother.  He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his sons, Dan (Suzie) of Corvallis, OR, Father Jerry of Sumner, WA, David of Seattle, WA, Martin (Jody) of Lakewood, WA, Jack of Tacoma, WA, Matthew of Oak Park, CA, Joseph (Catherine) of San Diego, CA, 11 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ron will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Cemetery on October 15th, 2020.

A wake will be held on Wednesday, October 14th from 4:00-8:00 pm at Sumner Voiles Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Andrews Building Fund, Sumner Washington.
