Robert "Jerry" Lawrence Kane

After a year long courageous battle with cancer, Robert peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 11, 2021.

Robert was born to Earl and Lois Kane in their Centralia, Washington home on May 22, 1936.  He graduated from Centralia High School where he was the class president.  Over the years, he enjoyed many class reunions, visiting with old friends.  He graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Marketing in 1958.  Robert was a valued and loyal employee to the J. C. Penney Company for 42 years.  He advanced to being a Penny’s store manager for many years in San Bernardino, California.

He married the love of his life, Mary Washburn, October 17, 1959.  They were together for 62 years.  Robert and Mary had 4 children and raised their family in the Seattle area.  They regularly attended church, being believers and followers of Jesus Christ.

Robert served many years and was Honorably Discharged from the Army of the United States Reserves in 1964.

Robert liked to golf and enjoyed playing often with family and friends.  He remained fit and healthy all his life.  He and his wife played some of the best golf courses all over the United States and he even played in Ireland, much to his delight.  Family gatherings were always a joy to Robert.  He loved spending time with family, brother Gene’s (Kit) family, brother-in-law John’s (Kathy) family and brother-in-law Dan’s (Sharon) family, including 7 nieces and nephews: Greg, Stacey, David, Danielle, Robert, Deidre, and Jonathan.

Robert and Mary enjoyed travel.  They visited Europe, Israel, Greece, Mexico, Caribbean, Canada, and Fiji.  He loved the sun and beach, making many trips to enjoy the islands of Hawaii.

Robert leaves behind his loving wife Mary, son Brian (Connie) of Auburn, WA, daughter Kristine (Mark) of Milton, WA, and son Doug (Kristin) of Auburn, WA; 7 grandchildren, Elissa, Jessica, Kyle, Hannah, Trevor, Devyn, Lauren, and 3 great grandchildren, Jonathan, August, Emilia.
