Richard Lewis Williams was born on March 24, 1942, in Tacoma, Washington. He passed away on January 24, 2025, at his home in Tacoma. He grew up in the Tacoma area and on a small farm in Spanaway, Washington. Rick joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and proudly served his country from 1959 to 1979. He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded two Purple Hearts. After retiring from the USMC as 1st Sgt, he worked as a commercial truck driver. Rick enjoyed his many cars, trucks, and motorcycles over the years. He also enjoyed woodworking and made many memorable items for his family and friends. He especially enjoyed family vacations and holidays.
Rick is preceded in death by his father Louie; mother Mary; sister Mary; and brother David. Rick is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Tacoma, WA; daughter and son-in-law Shelly and Mike Janow of Santa Clarita, CA; son and daughter-in-law Rich and Maria Williams; as well as daughter and son-in-law Jen and Rex Hewlett of Carbonado, WA. Rick also has six grandchildren: Madi Eagles of CA; Ricky, Christian, and Jacquelyn Williams of CA; and Austin and Kaitlyn Hewlett of WA.
A visitation and memorial gathering will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Powers Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held the following day, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:30am at Tahoma National Cemetery, located at 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042. It is recommended that those attending the graveside arrive at the cemetery by 11:00am. Rick will be missed by all who knew him.
