Patrick Joseph McGuane passed away on December 27th at the age of 80. He lived in Puyallup, Washington with his devoted wife, Kitty and their beloved dogs, Shelby, Daisy Mae and the dearly departed Bengie. He spent winters in Mesa Arizona with Kitty and their pups where he enjoyed some of the happiest days of his life. Swimming in the pool and living the desert lifestyle were pure joy for him. Patrick was born on February 26th, 1938 in London, England to his parents Bridget Liston McGuane and Patrick Joseph McGuane. The family returned to Ireland after the outbreak of WWII in England. Patrick spent most of his youth in Limerick, where he graduated from The Christian Brothers Secondary School and played in the City of Limerick Pipe Band. He often spoke of how very much he enjoyed spending his summers in Tarbert, County Kerry on the west coast of Ireland fishing with his grandfather. Patrick immigrated to New York City in 1963 and worked as a floor layer before settling in the Seattle area in 1967. He then worked for road construction in Seattle and PACCAR in Renton prior to retiring from King County Roads Department in 2003. He and Kitty have been very happily married since July 2007. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; infant siblings, Liam and Majella; brothers Martin and Michael and sister Bridget Lunning. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen "Kitty" McGuane of Puyallup, daughter Joyce Weinand and her husband Mike of Olympia, daughter Patricia Richling and her husband Joe of Renton, step daughter Pauline Black and her husband David of Bellingham, step daughter, Deborah Pisano and her husband Walter of Seattle, step daughter Krissy Wilcox and her husband John of Spokane, step son Dan Floyd of Portland; and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by siblings and their spouses: Mary and Marty Langan of Seattle, Dennis Lunning of Seattle, Jack McGuane of England, Alice and Edward Nash of England, Kathleen Rasmussen of Ireland, Ellen and Noel Duffy of Ireland, Stephen and Helen McGuane of Ireland, Patricia Kavanagh of Ireland, Majella McGuane of Ireland, He lived his life to the fullest and truly cherished his many friends and family members. His Catholic faith and his adored wife, Kathleen sustained him and gave him much contentment. Time passes but our love will remain for you, Patrick. Arrangements by Powers Funeral Home.
