“TOGETHER AGAIN”

Muriel Doolittle (Oestreich) was born May 17, 1926 to Ferdinand and Olga Oestreich in Bismarck, ND.  Her sister, DeVonne (Liebelt) completed their family.  They headed west to Washington when mom was around 9 years old, DeVonne, not quite three.  They settled in the Puyallup Edgewood area.  Mom’s mother passed when mom was around 14.  She quickly evolved to become a mother to her little sister, work and go to school. She graduated valedictorian from Sumner High School.  During her sophomore year in high school, she was required to do a school report which involved students writing to young soldiers stationed in Africa.  She picked the name Richard Doolittle.  They corresponded for several years and were married not long after Dad returned to the states.

They bought land in Orting and bought their farm home.  Their first child was Eleyne, and a few years later was a surprise of twins—Gary and DeAnne.  Mom was a homemaker and involved in the Crocker Grange, president of the PTA, Girl Scout leader and day camps, garden club, and wrote articles for the Orting Oracle in Orting, and a docent at the historical Meeker Mansion in Puyallup.

They sold the farm and retired back to Puyallup. Dad passed away after more than 50 years of marriage.  Mom moved to the Heritage House Assisted Living in Morton for three years, then moved to The Morton Hospital Nursing Care Facility  that she considered home for more than 10 years. At the close of this facility, Heart of Gold Adult Family Home rescued Mom.  Four months later, March 10th, Mom joined our Lord, Dad, and numerous friends and family.

She is survived by her children, Eleyne (Prince) Armstrong of Randle, Gary (Shirley) Doolittle of Randle and Henderson, NV, and DeAnne (Duane) Schlumpf of Glenoma.  Her sister,  DeVonne Liebelt is in Santa Ana, CA.  Mom also has seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

MOM LEFT MANY GREAT MEMORIES!
