Mittie Dean Jensen

July 18, 1932 — March 23, 2025

Mittie Dean “Deanne” (Brantley) Jensen, 92, passed away peacefully in hospice care on March 23, 2025, after fighting an infection from which she was unable to recover.

A caring and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Deanne cherished her family. She is survived by her two sons: Jack and Jim, her daughter-in-law Carla, three granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren. Her lovely home in Edgewood was always a welcoming place for her family, filled with her delicious cooking and surrounded by the beautiful flowers she grew.

Born on July 18, 1932, in Marion, Louisiana, Deanne moved to Washington in 1952, where she and her husband, Carl M. Jensen (married January 12, 1952), built a wonderful life together. She balanced raising their two sons while supporting Carl in running his sporting goods business. The family spent several years in Eatonville before returning to Edgewood and the Puyallup area, where Deanne remained for the rest of her life. Both of her sons graduated from Eatonville High School. After Carl’s passing in 1993, she especially focused her loving attention on her three granddaughters.

Deanne had a warm, welcoming spirit and a gift for entertaining, known for opening her home to friends and family. Whether it was her sons’ friends stopping by, a lively gathering with neighbors, or a holiday celebration, she was a gracious host who made everyone feel welcome. While living in Eatonville, she and Carl hosted their annual Fourth of July party on Clear Lake filled with fishing and festivities. She was also part of a bowling team in Puyallup, enjoying time with her friends.

She will be remembered as elegant, kind, and a wonderful cook. She always took great pride in her home and loved tending to her hydrangeas and garden where she grew berries, rhubarb, and vegetables. Her granddaughters, Andrea, Kristen, and Jayme, lovingly describe her as so sweet, supportive, and generous. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren.

Though she will be deeply missed, Deanne’s memory lives on in her family and the lives she touched with her warmth, hospitality, and love for her family. A private family gathering and celebration of life will be held in her honor.
