Michael Steven Gasper, 62, from Spanaway, WA. was with his wife Jennifer, his sister Debra and other family members when he was quietly called home by the Lord, on Friday September 22, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup WA.
Mike was born in Boise, Idaho on January 14, 1961. His parents, both predeceased, were Carol June Gasper and Steven Lawrence Gasper. The family left Idaho and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where Mike spent part of his childhood. They moved from Alaska to Great Falls Montana where Mike attended Great Falls High School and graduated in 1979.
Mike served his country as a member of the USAF where he was stationed at McChord AFB. During the years he lived in Idaho, Alaska and Montana Mike grew to love the outdoors and especially fishing. He was not deterred by weather, even during cold rainy days he would be out on the water fishing. Some fond memories of these fishing trips are shared by his wife and daughters.
Mike also enjoyed gardening, animals, reading western novels and watching classic western movies.
He worked at Alaskan Copper as a metal fabricator for almost thirty years, until his recent illness.
Mike is survived by his wife Jennifer Gasper, daughters Janel and Carol Gasper of Spanaway, WA. His two sisters Linda Kay Tannahill of Tacoma,WA. and Debra Ann Zarana of Yakama, WA. His father-in-law and mother-in-law Larry and Linda Kiehl. His sister-in-laws Tammy Jackson, Kristin Kiehl, Kimberly Brown and brother-in-law Jacob Kiehl. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews on both sides and great nieces on his side.
Mike is predeceased by his mother Carol June Gasper 8/21/1999, his father Steven Lawerence Gasper 07/04/2021, his brother-in-law Mick Zarana 09/21/2022 and his niece Madelyn Leilani Brown 12/05/2019.
There will be a celebration of life for Michael Gasper on Saturday November 11th at Collins Grange 3404 120th St. E Tacoma, WA 98446 beginning at 1:00 PM followed by a reception with food provided by the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Michael Gasper’s honor to offset the costs of the funeral. Donations may be sent to Michael Gasper Memorial in care of Jennifer Gasper at 9116 66th Ave NW Gig Harbor WA. 98332 or brought to the Celebration of Life on 11/11/2023.
Prior to his passing Mike acknowledged that he had sought God’s Grace and accepted Jesus as his Savior.
Rom 5:1: "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,"
Rom 5:2: "through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God."
