Michael Huston Boatz, beloved husband, devoted father, doting grandfather and dear friend, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Alda Boatz. He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Renee Jo Boatz, his eldest son Brian Christopher Boatz (Sandi), his daughter and son-in-law Stacy Cherie and Rick Dale Couch, his youngest son, Kevin Mitchell Boatz, his three granddaughters, Piper Joella, Ember Joy, and Brenna Dale Couch, along with a myriad of relatives and treasured friends.
Michael was born in Seattle, WA on February 20, 1953 to Kenneth Joseph and Alda Roine Boatz. He was raised in Alaska, California and Sumner, WA where, in 1969, he met his future bride, Renee, at Sumner High School. After graduation, in June 1971, Mike enlisted in the Navy where he pursued his interest of aircraft. Mike and Renee were married in Puyallup, WA on March 3, 1972. After his tour of duty in San Diego, CA, they moved back to Sumner, WA in 1976 where they raised three wonderful children, Brian, Stacy, and Kevin. They shared a beautiful life's journey together.
Mike attained his A&P and IA and also became an FAA inspector. He worked at Boeing for over 33 years and after his retirement in 2018, he enjoyed spending time at his Auburn Airport hangar where he was surrounded by so many wonderful friends. Besides aircraft, Mike's interests also included the outdoors where he loved hiking, camping and travel with his family and friends. He loved music from rock to jazz and his love of music inspired all three of his granddaughters to play a variety of musical instruments. He lived his life with love, positivity, passion, integrity, and honesty. Mike will be forever remembered for his kindness, intelligence, calm demeanor and his unwavering love for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a profound impact on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace in the arms of our Lord.
