Maxine Evelyn Coty

May 2, 1936 — March 17, 2025

Maxine Evelyn (McKenney) Coty, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), aunt and friend, passed away on March 17, 2025 at the age of 88 years old. She spent her career at the Puyallup Fair beginning as a typist and retired as the Concessions Manager and was a true inspiration to many. Her love of the fair and her co-workers lasted her entire lifetime. The fair was one of her main topics of conversation, sharing stories with anyone who would listen. She was proud of her accomplishments and was grateful to have worked with such a terrific team. Maxine also deeply loved and was proud of her family, especially Kelsey (her only grandchild) and Morgan (her 10-year-old great grandchild). Her demeanor sparkled each time she shared time with them. Maxine was devoted to her family – running errands, canning, baking, camping, attending her kids’ baseball and basketball games. Maxine was a huge Seattle Mariners fan, enjoyed attending the games whenever possible. Her dedication extended beyond the fair and sports, as she also enjoyed gardening and reading mystery novels. Maxine's home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious homemade dishes. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support made her a pillar of strength for her loved ones. She was her kids’ number one fan. Saying she will be missed is an understatement.

Survived by her son, Brad Coty (Tammy/wife), Kelsey Coty (granddaughter) & Morgan Inboden (great-granddaughter), Brenda Coty, and Valerie Hamby (Bryan/husband & Taylor Hamby/stepdaughter), Roger Reed (nephew, Avelina/wife) Glen Cushman (nephew, Jodeen/wife) and Beverly Peck (niece). Maxine is predeceased by Jerry Coty (husband), C. Melvin & M. Ellen McKenney (parents), Mary Cushman(sister), Melvin McKenney (brother) and Lucille Reed (sister).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 25th at 10:30am at Powers Funeral Home in downtown Puyallup followed by further celebrations at the Puyallup Eagles at noon.
