Maxine Cleone (Pelz) Clemmo passed away Wednesday June 2nd, 2021 at Wesley Bradley Park in Puyallup Washington.
Maxine was born January 26th, 1924 on the family farm in Williams, Iowa to Lila and John Pelz. After graduating in 1942 from Blairsburg High School in Blairsburg, Iowa, Maxine moved to California and worked at Lockheed Aircraft as well as various other jobs. In 1956, Maxine married Larry Blumer. In 1959, the couple moved from California to Puyallup, Washington where they started a joint construction company. Larry was WWII ace pilot and they owned, restored and operated their own P38 Lightning WWII fighter plane. It was then Maxine became interested in flying and ultimately got her own pilots license. The couple later divorced. On September 11th, 1986 Maxine married the love of her life, Ward Clemmo. Ward was a Captain for United Airlines. Maxine enjoyed life to the fullest. Her love of aviation brought her many happy memories and many, many lifelong friends along the way.
Maxine was a member of the Congregational Church of Blairsburg Iowa; a member of the ladies auxiliary of the fraternal order of the Eagles #2308 in Puyallup, WAA; a life member of the ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wats, Post #2224 of Puyallup, WA.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers and her beloved Ward. She is survived by her niece Judi (Ron) Claude, her step-daughter Laurie (Jim) Bishop; her step grandson Jeff (Carly) Marcoe, as well as many other nieces, nephews and many friends.
Maxine touched many lives and she will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
