MARIA LUISA QUEZADA WAS BORN JULY 18, 1956, TO GERARDO MARROQUIN AND MARIA CARMEN OAJACA IN EL JICARO, GUATEMALA. SHE WAS 66 YEARS OLD WHEN SHE WENT HOME TO BE WITH HER SAVIOUR. LUISA WAS RAISED IN A NON-CHRISTIAN HOME BUT CAME TO KNOW CHRIST AS HER SAVIOUR THROUGH HER HUSBAND DOMINGO. AS A RESULT OF HER JOY IN JESUS, HER MOTHER, BROTHERS AND SISTERS CAME TO KNOW HIM AS WELL. SHE WAS THE 6TH OF 10 SIBLINGS WHO INCLUDED DELFA, JOSE, VICTORINO, SARA, EVAN, DEMECIO, CARLOS, OLGA & YOLANDA. LUISA NEVER KNEW HER BIOLOGICAL FATHER AND WAS RAISED BY HER STEPFATHER BARTOLO BARRERA WHOM SHE LOVED AND RESPECTED.
WHEN SHE WAS 6 YEARS OLD THE FAMILY MOVED TO THE LARGER TOWN OF EL PROGRESO. IT WAS A BETTER ENVIRONMENT AND OFFERED MORE OPPORTUNITY. REGULARLY HER FATHER WOULD BE AWAY FROM HOME WORKING IN THE FIELDS FOR MONTHS AT A TIME, LEAVING HER MOM AND THE CHILDREN AT HOME. AFTER HER OLDER SIBLINGS LEFT HOME, LUISA FELT A RESONSIBILITY TO HELP SUPPORT HER FAMILY. SHE, ALONG WITH HER YOUNGER BROTHER DEMECIO WOULD PACK UP FRUIT AND CANDY TO BE SOLD AT THE TRAIN STATION. THEY WOULD ARRIVE WHEN THE CROWDS WERE THE LARGEST BETWEEN 10 AND 3. LUISA’S OUTGOING PERSONALITY HELPED TO SELL THE GOODS. EVENTUALLY SHE DEVELOPED A CLIENTEL. THEY WOULD SEEK OUT HER SMILE AND BUY HER PRODUCT. SHE WOULD TAKE THE MONEY SHE EARNED AND GIVE IT TO HER MOTHER TO HELP SUPPORT THE FAMILY.
LUISA WAS MARRIED TO DOMINGO ON OCTOBER 13TH, 1972. THEY HAD 3 CHILDREN IN GUATEMALA, BUT LOOKING TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR THEIR FAMILY, THEY MOVED PERMANTELY TO THE STATES IN 1979. THEY WERE BLESSED WITH 2 MORE CHILDREN. ONCE IN THE STATES, THEY SETTLED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND RAISED THIER 5 CHILDREN. LUISA’S DESIRE WAS THAT EACH OF HER CHILDREN WOULD COME TO KNOW JESUS. HER HAPPY SERVANT SPIRIT PERMEATED HOW SHE RAN HER HOUSHOLD. SHE HAD NO GREATER JOY THAN TO PREPARE A MEAL THAT THE FAMILY WOULD ENJOY AT THE DINNER TABLE. THEY WOULD SHARE THEIR DAY AND OPEN GODS WORD. SHE LOVED BEING A WIFE, MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER. BECAUSE OF HER YOUTH SHE FELT SHE GREW UP WITH HER KIDS. SHE WAS AS ADVENTUROUS AS THEY WERE. GOING TO THE BEACH, RIDING ROLLER COASTERS & PUSHING THEM TO JOIN HER ON THE ZIPLINE. HER CONNECTION TO THEIR LIVES WAS INSEPARABLE. SHE LOVED DOMINGO DEARLY AND WAS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT AN EXCELLENT WIFE SHOULD BE. HER TENDERNESS AND SUPPORT WAS A BLESSING TO DOMINGO. SHE WOULD MANAGE THE HOME AND CHILDREN WHILE DOMINGO PURSUED OPPORTUNITIES. THIS UNWAVERING SUPPORT BLESSED THEIR FAMILY.
LUISA WAS ACTIVE, OUTGOING AND LOVED PEOPLE. SHE ENJOYED GATHERINGS. BECAUSE OF HER HAPPY NATURE SHE AND DOMINGO HAD GREAT UNITY. HE WAS MORE SERIOUS AND THOUGHTFUL. THEY WERE A PERFECT COMBINATION. THIS MATCH HELPED PROPEL THE FAMILY TO A BETTER LIFE. BECAUSE OF THEIR TRUST FOR ONE ANOTHER THEY WERE WILLING TO TAKE RISKS. SHE WOULD ENCOURAGE HIM IN THEIR SETBACKS AND CELEBRATE THEIR BLESSINGS. THIS UNWAVERING TRUST AND SUPPORT MADE THEM INSEPARABLE.
LUISA AND HER HUSBAND DOMINGO WERE MARRIED 48 YEARS. DOMINGO PASSED INTO GLORY IN MAY 2020. LUISA PASSED LESS THAN 3 YEARS LATER ON JANUARY 22, 2023, AT 5:07AM. SHE WAS SURROUNDED BY HER LOVED ONES. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER 9 SIBLINGS, 5 CHILDREN. EVELYN, CARMEN, LILYAN, DORIS, STEVE, 15 GRANDCHILDREN AND 1 GREAT GRAND CHILD.
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
