Lorae Leslie Cammel

February 23, 1940 — July 19, 2024

LoRae Leslie Cammel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2024, at the age of 84.

She was born on February 23, 1940, in Tacoma, WA, to George Layton Eicher and Georgia Fern Todd. The youngest of eight, after Germaine (1922-2017), Eunice (1925-2008), Neil (1929-2009), Frank (1931-2021), Orin (1933-2022), JoAnne (1937-2012), and George (1938-2022).

LoRae attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma.

In 1962, LoRae was the mother of two young daughters, Laura (Mike) and Leslie, when she met the love of her life, Francis LeRoy Cammel, while she was working at a drive-in downtown, and he was working at a service station next door. They were married on June 22, 1963, and made their home in Tacoma, adding a son, Keith, before settling in Graham in 1967 and having their youngest daughter, Melissa (Ken).

In 1974, LoRae returned to work as an assistant catering manager at the Sherwood Inn in Tacoma and later at the Tacoma Dome and The Puyallup Fair. She was known for her dedication and hard work in her profession.

Between the years of 1995 and 1998, LoRae's husband, Fran, suffered a series of strokes that greatly affected his abilities. LoRae became a devoted caretaker to Fran, until his passing in 2002. They were married for 39 years.

LoRae was a talented seamstress who handmade many of her children's clothes. She had a passion for sewing, embroidery, cribbage, puzzles, and reading. However, her favorite pastime was gathering her family together for birthdays, holidays, and reunions, simply enjoying their presence.

LoRae was the grandmother of 11, Candace, Amanda, Erin, Brian, Matthew, Brandon, Breanna, Troy, Chuck, Jeremy, and Samantha. And Great-grandmother of 9.

In her passing, LoRae is reunited with her husband, Fran, her parents, George and Fern, all seven of her siblings, and her great-granddaughter, Elliana LoRea.

LoRae Leslie Cammel will be remembered for her sassy personality, beautiful smile, her trademark "Eicher hello/goodbye", warmth, love, and dedication to her family. Her legacy will live on through the cherished memories and the tight-knit bonds she fostered. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
