It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lin (Linda) Jean Eastman, née Furstenwerth of Puyallup, Washington, who passed away on January 27, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born August 7th, 1941, the daughter of Carl Otto Furstenwerth and Elisabeth (Berg) Furstenwerth. Lin graduated from Aberdeen/Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, WA in 1959, where she worked on the Ocean Breeze staff, the school newspaper.
She met Thomas (Tom) Lee Eastman in a Calculus class at Grays Harbor College, after she decided Calculus would be much easier than taking a class in shorthand. They married Friday, August 11th 1961 in Aberdeen.
Besides being a wife and mother to 4 children, Lin was the Nursery School teacher at Fife Milton Co-Operative Nursery School, Camp Fire Leader for 10 girls from Karshner Elementary in Puyallup, an avid Runner who earned t-shirts from many 10K runs and even completed the Trail’s End Marathon in Seaside Oregon, a business owner, educator, and consultant for the Computer Connection in Tacoma, a photographer, a 25+ year survivor from stage 4 breast cancer, a host and consultant for a FIRST LEGO League team, and a Dining Diva who joined other widows once a month to share dinner or lunch and socialize.
Lin outlived her brothers, Robert and Carl “Corky” Furstenwerth, her husband Thomas “Tom” Eastman, and her eldest daughter, Debbie (Eastman) Reed. She is survived the Reed family, son-in-law Don and his sons Tommy and Eric Reed; the Apple family, Kristi (Eastman) Apple, SIL
Kenneth, and grandsons Sean (Steven Tang,) and Cormac; the Libby Family, Lisa (Eastman) Libby, SIL Rich, and grandson Alex, (Jessica Joy) and great-grandbaby TBD; and the Eastman Family, Paul Eastman, DIL Carrie, Granddaughters Taylor Eastman Bozich ( Josh) and Mackenzie ‘Maxx!’ Eastman.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Puyallup at 10am on Sunday February 26th at the Powers Funeral Home, 320 W. Pioneer Ave, followed by a gathering at the Wilson Drive House.
