Kenneth D. Turner

March 30, 1935 — November 25, 2017

Kenneth D. Turner was born March 30, 1935 at Grand Coulee, Washington and was the son of Floyd and Esther Turner. He passed away on November 25, 2017 with family members present. Ken joined the Navy at 17 years in 1952. He served our country until 1956 when he received an Honorable Discharge. He was always very proud of his service. He married his loving wife, Barbara, in 1955 in Sun Valley, CA. They moved to Puyallup in 1958 with their three boys and Judy was born after the move. Ken, with his brothers Don and Marv and brother-in-law Ray Crabtree formed Empire Paint and Construction Company in 1964. The company was very successful in multiple states for 35 years. The "boys" were all very much involved in the company and Ken helped greatly to make it successful. He loved to hunt and looked forward every year to his annual fall trip to Montana to hunt with his good longtime friend Fred, Fred's son, Tracy and Ken's Yakima friends. Fortunately Delores was there or they would have all starved! Fishing as well was a favorite pastime. For many years, Ken and brother Marv fished the Colombia River, including out in the ocean in their boat, 'Easy Times'. He also enjoyed the guys annual fishing trip to Juneau, Alaska with Marv, Fred and many other friends. Most important to Ken were his wife, Barbara and their four children. He was a very kind , generous husband and father. Ken is survived by Barbara his wife of 62 years and three of their children, Troy of Florida, Ronald (Julie) of Puyallup, Judy Russo of Olympia, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brothers Donald and Marvin (Patricia) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Steve and his sister Arlene Crabtree and sister-in-law Doris Turner. We, his family and many friends, love him and miss him greatly. A very special thank you to Dr. Kim his family doctor, Hospice and the nursing staff and doctors at Highline Medical Center. You are all the very best!
