Kenneth W Stickney

Kenneth W. “Ken” Stickney, aged 88, passed September 7, 2024, in Puyallup, WA. Born July 31, 1936, in Ellensburg, WA.

Ken lived his early years in Ellensburg until the age of 6 when the family moved to Puyallup. He graduated from Puyallup High School class of 1954. He then joined the Coast Guard Reserves, serving on active duty from July 1957 to June 1959. Ken then spent many years working as a brick mason, first with his father for Stickney Masonry, then as an independent contractor. There are still many examples of his work around the Puyallup valley. Ken also served on the Puyallup Planning Commission, Puyallup Park Board, and as a member of the Puyallup, Tacoma, and Tahoma Fuchsia societies.  His hobbies were raising fuchsias and woodworking. Ken was often found outside tending to his flowers or in his woodworking shop. Additionally, Ken was an active member of the First Presbyterian church in Puyallup.

Ken married his wife Kathryn A. “Kathy” (Jones) Stickney on August 24, 1958. They were married 66 years at the time of his passing. Ken was preceded in passing by his father Fred and mother Georgia. He is survived by his wife Kathy, sons Ken and Doug (Marie) Stickney and daughter Kim (Bill) Davis along with four grandchildren, Sara and Brandon Stickney, and Joseph and Andrew Davis. Ken is also survived by his brother Cliff (Lynne) Stickney, several nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, 412 West Pioneer in Puyallup, WA. Services are open to all who want to join the family in celebrating Ken. Ken will be interred at the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
