Kay (Krebs) Marlow

November 25, 1933 — September 3, 2018

Kay was born in Tacoma in 1933 and died in NE Tacoma, WA on September 3, 2018. Born to parents Glenn and Vesta Garrett. Her Father was killed in a traffic accident by a drunk driver when she was 13, and she missed him for the rest of her life. Raised in Tacoma, she was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1951, and loved attending class reunions to reconnect with her fellow Abes. Married at 19, she and her husband Ernest Krebs moved to Sumner in 1959. Sumner and Kay were a perfect fit. Over the years she created many friendships and notably treasured friends, Marian Carel and Belle Krueger. Widowed in 1973, circumstances dictated that she find employment outside of the home for the first time in 20 years. In 1973 she started at Standard Brands in Sumner working in the lab there. After a three-year stint, Kay started work at The Boeing Co. where she worked for 14 years before retiring in 1991. She was a valuable and loyal employee at each. During her time at Standard Brands, Kay met Don Marlow, who would eventually become her second husband. Married in1979, they enjoyed 14 years of love, camping and travel, until his death in 1993. During her retirement, she was involved with The Daffodil Women's Garden Club, and as a Chaplain for Unity Church. Kay had a fun, friendly and social personality, and will be missed by many. The family wishes to thank Mel and Sue Berglund and the staff at Villa Vecchio for the loving care she received for the past 2 ½ years. Arrangements by Powers Funeral Home.
