Judith Lilliane Randall

October 19, 1948 — September 6, 2022

Judith Lilliane Randall, 73, wife of Thomas J. Randall, passed away on Tuesday. September 6, 2022, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.  Originally from Selb, Germany, Judith was the daughter of the late Adolph Fritz Soelch and Irmgard Magda Drushba.

As a young child, she was responsible for many household duties, which included cleaning, cooking, caring for animals, and the overall well-being of her family. She attended school in Selb, graduating with honors.  Judith then studied medicine at Coburg University. When her father was hurt while working at Rosenthal Porcelain, Judith left school to attend to her father’s injuries, never to return to Coburg.  Her professors were both understanding and saddened by this decision.  Judy’s strict upbringing provided her with undeniable strength, will, and determination.  These traits would be her hallmark for the rest of her life.

In the early 1970s, Judith relocated to the United States after marrying Scott Renwick.   During their marriage, they welcomed daughter, Michelle.  Though that marriage did not last, Judith found love again after meeting Tom.  They married in December 1979, and, in 1982, daughter Renee was born.

Military life with Tom meant numerous relocations for the family, as well as many oversea deployments for her husband. No matter the challenge, Judith always provided her family with a comfortable, warm, and inviting home. Judith was a doting and caring mother, involved in every aspect of her daughters' lives (whether they liked it or not); the love and bond between herself and her daughters would last a lifetime.

Judith and her family finally settled in Puyallup, Washington, in 1991. Over the years, she worked in both retail sales and supporting people with special needs. Her caring nature and “take no prisoner” attitude made her a perfect fit for any work-related role she decided to take on. However, true fulfillment and purpose always stemmed from family, and Judith was her happiest with the arrivals of her four grandchildren. Being their “Omi” was the role she was meant to have, and she took that job very seriously.  Judith’s family is her legacy. She was her family’s best friend and confidante. She was the matriarch, the glue that held everything in place, and the backbone of her family. She exuded confidence that never wavered and was deeply admired and respected by those around her. Her bluntness and humor were a force to be reckoned with. She was selfless and worried about her family more than herself, and there was nothing Judith couldn’t handle. There are no words that can fully describe how amazing she truly was.

In addition to being an exceptional homemaker, decorator, and cook, Judith also enjoyed all forms of arts and crafts: sewing, cross stitch, knitting, crocheting, stained glass, and diamond painting.

Judith is survived by her husband Thomas of 43 years, three daughters and six grandchildren.  Michelle Ann Cooper (daughter), Renee Marie Randall (daughter) and four grandchildren, Charles Murphy (Charlie), Kevin Murphy, Brenna Burgess, and Nora Burgess, reside in Puyallup.  Marion Dehler (daughter) and two grandchildren, Katja and Christian, reside in Bayreuth, Germany.  Her older brother, Adolph Fritz Soelch, resides in Hanau, Germany.

A private “Celebration of Life” will be held at her home, following internment at Tahoma National Cemetery.
