Joan Darlene Gamble

Joan Darlene (Stelter) Gamble, 94, of Edgewood, WA passed away on June 4th, 2024. She was born May 14th,1930 in Eau Claire, WI. to William and Estella Stelter. After graduating from Cedarburg (WI) High School, she completed a course of study and received a Dental Assistant certificate in nearby Minneapolis. In 1951, fulfilling a childhood dream to travel, her and a girlfriend did just that leaving their humble Midwestern roots and trading them for the glamour of the big city: Washington, DC. There she continued her dental career.

In 1954, she met and married Melvin Gamble. Joan and Mel were married for 61 years before his passing in November of 2015. When not working outside the home, Joan enjoyed being a homemaker, scrap booking, RV-ing and, of course, traveling. Their mutual love of wanderlust led Joan and Mel to visit all 50 states and over 25 countries.

Joan is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Karen) Gamble of Lockport, LA, Kerry Gamble of Orting, WA, and Gregory (Christy) Gamble of Tacoma, WA; sister, Ruth Wolf of Cedarburg, WI, sister-in-law Sandra Stelter of Cedarburg, WI; grandchildren, Renee (Kevin) Offutt, Tyler (Kelleigh) Gamble, Jacob (Devin) Gamble, Danielle (Chris) Sumida, Nathan Gamble, Laura (Kai) Manley and great grandchildren, Luca Gamble, Jolie Gamble, Elliott Sumida, Arlo Gamble, River Offutt, Mila Gamble and boy Gamble To Be Named. Besides her parents, she was proceeded in death by her brother Ronald Stelter, sister-in- law Wanda Stelter and brother Robert Stelter.

Joan will be interred with Mel at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA at 2:00PM on Oct 4, 2024. There will also be a Celebration of Life for Joan at 12:00pm Oct 5, 2024, at the Best Western, Mountain View Hotel, Auburn, WA.
