In Loving Memory of Jayce Dominic West
With heavy hearts, we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Jayce Dominic West, who left us far too soon on March 27, 2025, at the age of 16. Born on July 14, 2008, Jayce's time with us was brief but filled with immeasurable love and joy.
Jayce possessed a radiant spirit that illuminated the lives of all who knew him. His sense of humor, boundless compassion and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Recognizable by his signature hoodies, slides, distinctive hairstyle and always with one AirPod in, Jayce's unique presence will be profoundly missed.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Morgan Withrow, Jay and Angela West; his cherished brothers, Aiden Withrow-Hwande and Jayden West; and his adoring grandparents, Gladys and Robert Williams, Rodney and Gina Dunlap, and John and Kellie Strait. Jayce's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his aunts—Aunts Marissa Withrow, Pam Plaskett (Michael Plaskett), Phynisha Moss (Yandle Moss), Patrice West, Wanda Gladney, Rosiland Williams and Carol Handy; his uncles—John R. Strait (Lindsey Diamond-Strait) and Rodney Dunlap (Amy Dunlap); as well as numerous great aunts, great uncles and cousins who held him dear. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Bernadette Strait, and grandfather, Ricky Withrow.
Jayce's educational journey took him through Crescent Heights Elementary, Meeker Middle School and Stadium High School. In his final year, he pursued his passion for HVAC at Bates Technical College as a running start student. Jayce recently received his electrical certification, inspired by his grandpa and Uncle Rodney. Beyond academics, Jayce thrived in football and wrestling, and found joy in music, family vacations and sharing moments with friends.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Jayce's remarkable spirit will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 19th at West of the Waterway in Tacoma. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8th at Powers Funeral Home in downtown Puyallup. We are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our families, neighbors and community during this difficult time. Our heartfelt thanks extend to the Federal Way Police Department, firefighters and first responders for their unwavering dedication. We also deeply appreciate the coaches, teammates, friends and extended family who have stood by us, offering their strength and comfort.
Though Jayce's physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit remains a guiding light, inspiring us to live with love, laughter and compassion. May his memory be a blessing, and may we honor his legacy by embracing each day with the joy and kindness he so freely shared.
