Died September 24, 2023. He was born October 25, 1932, in Seattle, WA. Being an only child, Jim and his parents John and Helen Shaver, enjoyed camping and fishing for entertainment during the depression years. At 15 years old, Jim joined the Golden Gloves Boxing t eam. In May of 1950, he joined the Navy, and their boxing team, winning a scholarship to Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. While attending the university, he was recalled to the Navy. He was honorably discharged in August 1954. He received fi rst place for the largest salmon in the 1954 Fishing Derby held in Seattle, WA., and won a 1954 Ford. He married in 1957 to Lydia. He was hired at the Seattle Fire Dept until he retired in 1992, 33 years. Jim was a wonderful man loved life and people. He was intelligent, positi ve, and full of life. He is survived by wife, Lydia, sons John and James , daughters, Helen Jo, Theresa, and Judy . 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren. Memorial will be held at Powers Funeral Home, October 20, 2023, at 10:00 am till 1:00 pm.
