James “Jim” Leonard Campbell, born September 4th, 1931 to Cecilia and Leonard Campbell, passed away peacefully on October 8th. Jim was born in Plevna, Montana and raised on a farm in Ellensburg along with his 7 siblings, Barney, Kenneth, Beverly, Glen, Gary, Dale, and Carolyn. He joined the Army and spent 2 years defending our country in Korea. He returned home to Ellensburg in 1953 where he met his bride, Frances Slead, at the diner of the bus depot where she was a waitress. They married on May 7th, 1955 and moved shortly after to Ephrata, WA where their first son, James Jr. was born. They moved back to Ellensburg for a short while where their 2nd child, Cecilia was born in 1957. They then moved to Puyallup and had 2 more children, Leslie in 1960 and Brad in 1963. Jim owned and operated Campbell and Sons from 1973 until he “retired” in 2007.
Jim was the most honest and hard-working man you would find and he loved his family more than anything. He is survived by his wife Fran, 2 of his 4 children, James Jr. (Karen) and Brad (Gina), 9 grandchildren, Shay (Andy), Ryan (Megan), Rachel, Mikael (Brian), Nicholas (Melody), Ali (Jon), Erika (Matt), Dylan, and Crystal; 12 great-grandchildren Kylee, Jared, Abby, Tyler, Austin, Jacob, Ricky, Vincent, Stanley, Samuel, Wyatt, and Cora, 1 great-great grandchild (Campbell), his brother Glen (Claudia), sister Beverly, sisters-in-law Helen and Margaret, brother-in-law Randy, and many nieces and nephews.
