Hugh "Pat" Miracle
After a short battle with cancer, Pat entered the gates of glory surrounded by his loving family on February 3, 2021.
Pat was born to Ben and Irene Miracle in Wamego, Kansas on June 12, 1929. He attended school in Firgrove and graduated from Puyallup High School in 1948 then marrying Wanda Shaffer, his high school sweetheart in 1949. Pat loved woodworking and was especially good with his hands doing many projects at church, home, and special projects for friends and family. He was a home delivery milkman, insurance agent, and retired in 1991 as owner of “Pat’s Repair” where he repaired shoes and luggage only to move the repair equipment to their home as a cottage industry for a few more years. In 1997 Pat trained and finished the Seattle to Portland (StP) bike ride at 68 years old. Pat was a caring, loving, gentle, and giving man, always ready to give a helping hand, while wearing his favorite blue hat. Following full retirement, he and Wanda spent 1998-2004 as active members of the MMAP (Mobile Missionary Assistance Program) where they got to travel and see the countryside as they worked on projects around the country building churches, campgrounds, and schools. He often referred to this time as their “golden years”. After MMAP he worked as a runner for the Pierce County Fire and Rescue Department.
Pat leaves behind his loving wife, Wanda, of 71 years – daughter Karen (Skip) of Yakima WA; son Kelly (Adelfa) of North Las Vegas, NV; son Mark (Sandra) of Stanwood, WA; five grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Benjamin, Bethany, Kaily and five great grandchildren Ethan, Micah, Gianna, Westley, and Andelyn.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruthann, sister Doddy, and brother Terry.
A memorial service will be held February 20, 2021 at 1:00pm at Southside Baptist Church, 626 S. 86th St in Tacoma. COVID-19 regulations will be followed.
