Helen (Ethel) Humphries Reynolds, born January 20, 1926, passed away peacefully at her home in Sumner, WA, surrounded by her children, February 10, 2025.
Mom was born and raised in Concrete, WA along with her 8 siblings. She went on to graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in nursing. Mom spent her 30+ year career as an RN in roles from the ER to Administration.
Mom loved her sports and was a huge supporter of the Seahawks (inaugural season ticket holder), Mariners, Huskies – and (when they weren’t playing the Huskies) the Cougars. One of her favorite passions was golf, from which she made a large number of longtime friendships.
Mom enjoyed the outdoors, especially those occasional sunny days. We spent many summers enjoying our cabin on Lake Ohop.
Helen is survived by daughters Ann (Glenn) Halverson, Cathy (Mike) Pochepan, and son Steve (Leigh) Humphries. Along with seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husbands Thomas Humphries (Jan. 1981) and Stuart Reynolds (Jan. 2017).
Words on a page would never do justice to describe Mom and the impact she had on anyone who knew her. Us kids were raised in beautiful Des Moines, WA and our house was always the place where our friends hung out. Mom welcomed everyone, and leaves behind a long list of friends and family who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held this summer – preferably on a warm, sunny day – the kind of day that our Mom loved so much.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or Macular Degeneration research.
