George Valdemar Mortensen

October 21, 1933 — February 16, 2023

George was the last-born child in Wellington Colorado to Father Ralph Valdemar Mortensen and Mother Helen Timmig Mortensen. With older sisters Lois Robinson and Mary Wilcox. Survived by sister Lois Robinson, wife Lillian Maxine Sanderson-Mortensen, and children Cyndee S. Mortensen-Nighswonger, Ladonna R. Mortensen-Westmore, Gary Von Mortensen, and Kippi G. Mortensen-Eldred. Each of George and Maxine's children gave George two grandchildren; Jeff Nighswonger, Jennee Nighswonger-Kopala, Greg Westmore, Kate Westmore, Joel Mortensen, Jon Christian Mortensen, Kiara Eldred-Wooten, Cyle (C.J.) Eldred Jr. with 8 great-grandchildren among them.
George attended Laramie High School and entered the navy before graduation. He was a medic in Guam during the Korean War, were he received an Honorable Discharge. He attended Abilene Christian College, now known as Abilene Christian University, where he met his loving wife Maxine Sanderson. They were united in marriage on August 25, 1955. George was an avid speaker and teacher, spreading the word of God and showing through example God's love to everyone he met. George had a fun way of creating humor in all that he did.  He made cards for family and friends to celebrate all of life’s accomplishments from birthdays and anniversaries to graduations and sympathies, crafting them individually for each person. We love you dad…. You will be missed.  Till we meet again
