Frieda Pea Bostwick

Frieda P Bostwick, age 96, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital January 11, 2023. Born July 18, 1926 in
Sumner WA to Sigmund and Rosina Schoenbachler, Frieda was one of ten
children. Tragically, both parents died within one week when she was 14. Frieda was very
competitive in all sports at Sumner HS voted "Most Athletic" as a senior in 1944. She was a
pioneer in women's baseball and a star pitcher on the 1949 WA State championship
“Sumner Maids” fastpitch softball team, which she played on for many seasons. She married
husband Bill in June of 1948. They raised their nine children, John, Michael (Cathleen), Geri
(Tim Hoffman), David (Nancy), Ron (Patty), Bill, Delbert (Colleen), Lisa, and Steven in
Puyallup. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings: Sigmund, Joe, Amil, Bill,
Rose, Edna, Alma, Hilda, her sons John, David, Delbert, and grandson Jason. Frieda is
survived by her sister Vernita Swann, six children, 20 grandchildren and 15 great
grandchildren. Frieda worked as a bank teller for a few years before becoming a fulltime
housewife raising her children. She enjoyed playing bingo, gambling, bowling, gardening,
and conversing with her extended family, neighbors and friends. She was a devout member
of All Saints Church, volunteering and auditing the Sunday collection for decades. Also, a
longtime involvement with the Puyallup Eagles. She was very proud of her Swiss heritage
and a 66 year member of the Tacoma Swiss Ladies Society. To know her was to love her. If
you met her once, you would never forget her. She left an impact on those she knew. The
world won’t be the same without her.

Rosery: All Saints Church, Saturday Jan 21, 10:15am.
Mass: All Saints Church, Saturday Jan 21, 11:00am with reception following Mass in the
Parrish Hall.
Burial: Sumner Cemetery, Tuesday, Jan 24, 11:00am.
