Eugenie Louise Parrish was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She departed this world suddenly on July 13, 2021, at the age of 73. Though gone far too soon, the legacy of family and love she leaves behind remains a light in the hearts of all those who knew her.
Born to James and Catherine Lilly on December 31, 1947, Eugenie was raised in Idaho as one of eight children. After graduating high school, she worked and lived in Boise where she met her husband, Paul, which would begin a lifelong courtship. On June 29, 2021, they celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Together, they had six children: Chris, Jennifer, Lisa, Sean, Ryan, and Erin. She leaves behind six siblings, as well as six grandchildren.
Eugenie built a life tirelessly dedicated to improving the lives of those she cared about. The very definition of a doting mother, she was a model for all the ways to lead a long, happy life, whether through magic in the kitchen, making the proverbial silk purse from a sow’s ear, or just the gentle humor required to persevere during long stretches where her husband worked overseas and she managed the household on her own. She was a spirited sports fan, her beloved Seattle Mariners never far from her thoughts. The simple pleasures – a cup of coffee, a quiet walk around the neighborhood – never lost their appeal throughout her life. And she saw hope for the future in both our politics and in each other. She will never be forgotten.
