Elsie Ilean Franklin

Elsie Ilean Franklin passed away peacefully in Puyallup, WA on June 22, 2018. She was born in Atoka, Oklahoma January 10, 1929. Daughter of Tolbert and Oneda (Mills) Orum. She married Cecil Franklin (deceased) in Sanger, CA on October 13, 1945. She was the beloved mother of 5 children. Linda Mehiel of Sumner, WA, Walt Franklin of Reno, NV, Tom Franklin of Gulfport, MS, Jim Franklin of Mercer Island, WA, and Pamela Franklin of Harrisburg, OR. She had 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She had 8 siblings, brothers Walter Orum of Prineville, OR, Troy Meeks (deceased), Joe Orum (deceased), Floyd Orum (deceased), Hershel Orum (deceased) and sisters Millie Mirandette (deceased), Ruby Alvey of Selah, WA, Norma Couture (deceased) and many nieces and nephews. She worked as a cook manager for Sumner School District for 18 years. She touched many lives by lending a listening ear, visiting the sick and elderly, and giving kind words of support and encouragement. She found great joy in singing, helping others and gatherings of friends and family. She lived a life of conviction. She shared her faith with all those she came in contact with and was a member of the Church of Christ in Sumner, WA for 48 years. She lived through the Great Depression and persevered through many tough times, yet would face those challenges prayerfully and say "This too shall pass". She had a wonderful sense of humor and spread joy in the lives of those around her. She will be greatly missed by all, but we know she has gone to that promised place where she was welcomed as a good and faithful servant. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 Thursday June 28, 2018 at Powers Funeral Home Puyallup, WA, interment services at Woodbine Cemetery, followed by a gathering of family and friends to share in fellowship and food.
