Edward Phillip Stark was born on February 24,1926 in Hylebos, Washington to Edward and Mandora Stark. He died at home, surrounded by family on June 26, 2024. He was 98 years old.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 78 years Lois (Ball) Stark and son James (wife Carrie) Stark. He is survived by daughter, Donna Stark, son Rick (wife Minnie) Stark, daughters Karen (husband Vern) O’Brien, Lori (husband Wayne) White, and Stacy Hailey. Ed and Lois had 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
He enjoyed bowling and earned numerous trophies. He was a fan of playing and watching baseball, going fishing, and camping with many trips to the beach and to Canada. He always had a garden growing and had a green thumb. He could often be seen out walking the neighborhood visiting. He was known as “Mr. Edgewood” and was an inspiration and role model. Ed and his wife Lois were foster parents for many years. Ed was active in his church and worked at the food bank. Ed joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served on the USS Bunker Hill CV17. He was on board the Bunker Hill during the Kamikaze attack on May 11, 1945. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War 11 Victory Medal. Ed and Lois married while he was home on leave July 4, 1945.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and generosity. We will miss his smile and laughter.
