Doyle John Wyngarden was born December 7, 1959 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Herman and Blanche (DePrenger) Wyngarden.
He was a graduate of Oskaloosa Senior High School in the class of 1978. After graduation, Doyle began working for Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, Iowa.
On June 4, 1982 he was united in marriage to Karla Nunnikhoven in Pella, IA. They would go on to be married for over 40 years and were blessed with two beautiful and loving daughters.
In 1990 Doyle and his family took a leap of faith and moved to Washington, where he was the first employee of Vermeer Northwest. His family established roots in Puyallup, Washington where he and his wife would continue to build a life together until his passing. Doyle genuinely loved his work and felt a deep sense of purpose and connection to his Vermeer Family. In December 2022, Vermeer Northwest joined forces with Vermeer Mountain West where he was proud to be the longest tenured employee of both companies.
Doyle was a loyal, selfless, and hard-working man who loved the simple joys of life—family, church, nature, grilling, and playing card games around the table. He had an unsurpassed skill of making award winning homemade ice cream and loved maintaining his perfectly manicured lawn. In the summers, Doyle and Karla loved exploring the beautiful places this country has to offer from the comfort of their motorhome. Their favorite place to visit was Long Beach, Washington where Doyle mastered the art of campfire pizza pies over driftwood bonfires. Above all, Doyle’s pride and joy was found in his two daughters and four grandchildren.
Doyle’s strong Christian faith was the foundation of every part of his life. He loved his church community at South Hill Christian Church, where he was actively involved.
Doyle passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at Auburn Medical Center on March 21, 2023, following complications after a recent health issue.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Karla; daughters: Samantha (Jason) Sechrist of Puyallup, WA, and Meagan (Woody) Bowman of Tampa, FL; grandchildren: Olivia (13 yrs) and Brodie (11 yrs) Sechrist, and Charlotte (2 yrs) and James (10 mos) Bowman; sister: Denise (Glenn) Van Wyk of Pella, IA and she and her husband’s children and families; mother-in-law: Dorothy Nunnikhoven of Pella, IA and Karla’s siblings, spouses and their families.
