Douglas Craig Hansen, 70, loving father and husband, passed away Tuesday, February 22 at his home in Puyallup. Craig was born May 18, 1951 in Richfield Utah, the second of six children of Douglas R and Charlaine Hansen.
Craig graduated from Bethel High School in 1969, and proudly went on to become a police officer in Shelton, WA. After his decade long commitment to law enforcement, Craig spent a few years to dabble in small business ownership and other ventures, eventually landing his long-time career as a security officer at Valley Medical Center, from where he retired. He was also a lifelong and faithful member of the LDS church.
He married Grace Somers (Oglesby) in 1970 and had three children: Doug, Kristin, and Brian. His second marriage to Deaun Phillips (Hansen) in 1996 added her two children into his circle of family, Jared and Lindsay.
Craig is survived by his wife, Deaun; his children Doug, Kristin, and Brian (Wendy); his step-children Jared and Lindsay (Jim); his brother, Kevin; sister, Leslie; and his 8 grandchildren: Courtney, Trevor, Rachel, Zachary, Olivia, Jacob, Hunter, and Neeka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Charlaine; sister, Cheryl; and brothers, Russel and Larry.
Craig had a love for spending time in the outdoors, camping, seeing new places, reading, and woodworking in his shop. He would light up if you asked him about his hobbies and would entertain with his adventures growing up, his last road trip, or his next woodworking project. He especially enjoyed telling his amusing stories of when he was a police officer.
Services will be held Friday March 4th at 11am at the LDS Graham Ward building, following a 1 hour viewing. His final resting place will be at Woodbine cemetery in Puyallup, near his parents and brothers.
