Donald Birkett

Donald C. Birkett “Don” was born March 29th,1934 to Mildred and Donald T. Birkett in Tacoma Washington. He moved to Seattle when he was a young boy. His first job was as a newspaper boy. He graduated from Queen Anne High School. Don joined the Navy, where he was a Gunner’s mate. After the Navy, he went through an electrical apprenticeship and went to school at night to become an electrician. He was married to love of his life, Jackie Birkett on August 13,1960 and they had two children. Don worked as a Journeyman Electrician for IBEW local 46 for over 30 years. He lived in Midway, Burien and Federal Way. He moved to his final home in Puyallup where he lived for the past 25 years. Don passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on January 26, 2025 at the age of 90.

Don loved to garden, cook and ride his bicycle. He enjoyed country music, watching tv and was an avid reader for many years. He loved to watch the Mariners and Seahawks.

Don continued to be active in the Electrical union and attended the union retiree’s meeting with dedication.

Don will be always be remembered for his loyalty… to his wife, his family, his country and his electrical brotherhood. He will also be remembered for his kind, gentle and witty nature. 

Don is survived by his wife Jackie Birkett of 64 years, his two sisters Marilyn Johnson and Lora Giboney, his two children Roger Birkett and Kathy Ostbye, his daughter-in-law Teresa Birkett, son-in-law Raymond Ostbye, his two grandchildren Justin and Lindsay Healea and his great-grandson Mason Healea.

There will be a Memorial Service at a date and time to be determined.
