Christopher Nelson passed away on November 30, 2018. Chris was a "Seattle kid" attending Concordia, Watson Groen and Shoreline Community College. As a young man, Chris earned his Eagle Scout badge and was respected for his ability to lead long hikes for scouting groups and make the adventure fun. He worked in the grocery business for over twenty-five years and when he first began, people "waited to be in his line" because he offered cheer to every customer. His humorous stories, never at anyone else's expense, were epic. Most of all, he will be long remembered and loved for his gifts of kindness and caring. We are heartbroken at the loss of our beloved Chris. He was a friend to many and endeared himself to all he met. Our only comfort is in his final peace. Chris was predeceased by his grandparents Edward and Thelma Hansen, Clayton and Joyce Nelson and his uncle Wayne Nelson. He is survived by his father, Wendel Nelson, mother, Karen Thurston, her husband, Lance, and brother Timothy Nelson and wife Thalia. His aunts and uncles include Sheryl Stuewe, husband Bill, Karen Nelson, widow of Wayne Nelson, Keith and Kristine Sullivan, cousins Laurie, Melissa, Peter, Mark, Rob, Jeffrey, Sydney, their spouses and children. On Saturday, December 8, at 1:00 PM a Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church, 109 Train Street SE, Orting WA 98360. A light lunch will be served. Additionally, on Sunday, December 9, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM a Celebration of Life will be held at Ivar's Salmon House, 401 NE Northlake Way Seattle WA 98105.
