Betty Jean Eriksen, 92, of Orting, Washington passed away November 28, 2023, from complications of a fall. She was born in Fallon, Nevada on February 8, 1931, to Roy Charles and Anna Merle (Redfern) Bliss. One of ten children, she graduated with a GED and later completed a nurses training program and became a licensed nurse, working at Barstow Community Hospital in California for almost thirty years.
She married Thomas E. Sharp in 1948, and had three children: Ronald Edward, Vici Lyn (Francoies), and Robin Denise (Denton). In 1980, she married Harland Oral Eriksen.
After retiring in 1986, Betty Jean enjoyed family and friends, crocheting for grandchildren, reading Danielle Steele novels, and walking and traveling.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and all her siblings: Loyal, Roy, Cleo, Charles, Louise (Gill), Irene (Stevens), Robert, Beverly (Burson), and Glenn, both of her husbands, and her son Ronald. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Clark and Vici, and Oran and Robin, and by her grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, William Bridges, Jenica Buaas, Bryan Shroyer, Jr., Tarah Brenneise, and Ryan Shroyer. Her many loving great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren will remember her as their Bema.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm, December 14, 2023, at the Orting Cemetery, 19600 Orting-Kapowsin Hwy, Orting, WA, 98360. Parking is available across the street from the cemetery at the fire station. Afterwards, friends and family are invited to share a meal at Mazatlan, 10302 198th St. E, Graham, WA.
