Beatrice L. Utzig

Beatrice (Bea) Lucille Utzig

Beatrice was born on July 27, 1940, in Tacoma, Washington to her father, Darel H. Rees, and her mother Helen M. Rees (Shoemaker).

Bea graduated from Puyallup High School in 1958 and received the Altrusa Award from the Distributive Education club. While still in high school she worked at Pioneer Bakery. After high school she worked at Good Samaritan Hospital operating the switchboard on the graveyard shift. She worked there for nearly 20 years, mainly in the Data Processing Department. She worked at the Puyallup Fair in 1980 and 1981 at the Scone Booth. She worked for 5.5 years at Krusteaz/Continental Mills in Kent, Washington.

Bea loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, travelling, visiting friends and relatives, and working with her flowers and plants in the backyard.

Beatrice is survived by her husband Jan B. Utzig; her children: Jan M. Utzig, Lisa M. Utzig, and Paul D. Utzig; her granddaughter Sofia Utzig; her siblings: Kathy McNeill, Maureen Haflett, Michael Rees, and Larry Rees.  Beatrice will be reunited with her deceased parents Darel and Helen Rees, and her deceased siblings: Letha Colkitt and Terry Coggin.
