Audrey Elaine Wagner

Audrey Elaine Johnson (Wagner), known as Elaine to her many friends and family, has now launched off on yet another exciting adventure.  Audrey Elaine Johnson was born to Roy and Harriet Johnson on May 21st 1939 in Prosser, Washington. Elaine is survived by her Significant Other Gerald (Jerry) Johnson, two daughters; Lynn Dawn Doerflinger(Tony), Susana Dancy and numerous friends. Elaine is gifted with six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Elaine grew up in Prosser, Washington attending kindergarten through High School. Elaine moved to Tacoma after High School where she worked in the cafeteria to pay her tuition at University of Puget Sound.   Upon graduation from UPS Elaine embarked upon a teaching career with Tacoma Schools. Elaine met her husband, Tom Wagner while attending UPS. Elaine and Tom had many of the same interests both loving nature and the great outdoors. Elaine and Tom loved hiking, skiing as well as travel adventures. Elaine and Tom joined the Mountaineers group about 1961 and their travel and mountain climbing adventures got off to a start. Elaine and Tom climbed many mountains in North America and Mexico.  Elaine joined about fifty Mountaineers on a trip to Central Mexico arriving at the home of Consuelo where they stayed.   Elaine was told that Consuelo was looking for a home for her niece, Susana Dancy.  Elaine jumped at the chance to help a young high school age woman and the mother daughter bond was formed by Elaine mothering and teaching Susana while Susana attended high School in Tacoma. Elaine broke words into syllables to better teach Susana English.  Susana was well on her way to future success in the work place.  Elaine kept in touch with her friends and Susana’s family in Mexico often speaking in fluent Spanish.

Elaine was deeply rooted in her Methodist Faith and the kindness and generosity she learned while growing up in Prosser.  Elaine spent her life giving to others.  Spending many hours and her own resources to feed the homeless with partner Gerald (Jerry) Johnson as well as ministering and helping many others at The Federal Detention Center.

Elaine passed on with her typical peace and beauty in the company of her family after waiting for final goodbye with beloved daughter Lynn.

*The Funeral Visitation will be October 15th at The Powers Funeral  Home  310 W Pioneer, Puyallup Wa Hours are from 1PM to 5 PM

*The Graveside Service will be in Prosser, Wa. At The Prosser Cemetery on October 22nd at 1PM

Time will be set aside for those who knew Elaine to contribute personal stories and experiences.
