Cremation Options

These days, cremations are commonplace. They are seen as a flexible, cost-effective and land-saving alternatives to traditional burials. However, many families think they cannot hold a meaningful service with a cremation. This is not true. A cremation does not limit your options—in fact, it often opens the door to many unique services and memorialization opportunities. Perhaps that is why three out of every four families in Washington now choose cremation instead of burial. At Powers Funeral Home, we can help you arrange any type of service to be held before or after the process of cremation. We can also help you decide your loved one’s final resting place or memorialization ceremony so that family and friends can honor his or her memory.

Cremation and Funeral Service

The cremation is carried out at our own Puget Sound Crematory after the funeral and viewing. A casket or alternative cremation container is required for this type of cremation. The cremated remains (ashes) of your loved one may be safely placed in an urn and held in one of our many above ground columbarium niches. Alternatively, you can choose another type of memorialization service, some of which are listed below.

Scattering of Ashes

Your loved one’s remains may be scattered freely within a dedicated, natural environment. There are also certain services which offer scattering among the sea or the stars.

Traditional Burial of Ashes

An in-ground burial on a family plot, so that your loved one can be memorialized alongside other relatives. Urns may be buried at the head or foot of a grave site.

Personalized Memorialization of Loved One

Inscribe your family member’s name and a special saying on a tree plaque, park bench or other special memorial. We also have customized urns and keepsakes, which are perfect for displaying inside your home.

Direct Cremation

A simple and dignified service that involves transferring the body of your loved from the place of death or the medical examiner’s office and going straight to our own Puget Sound Crematory. There is no embalming, viewing or visitation, but you can hold a memorial service, with or without the cremated remains, at a later date if you so wish.
